Tamara Hancock received the ASA National award for ASA Chapter Executive Director of the Year (2024-25) at the SubExcel conference in Oklahoma City!
As the leader of the ASA Houston Chapter, Tamara has set clear and ambitious goals focused on strengthening the ASA Houston Chapter’s impact, visibility, and value to its members. Her leadership has been guided by a commitment to expanding membership, deepening industry partnerships, enhancing educational offerings, and creating meaningful opportunities for professional development. These goals have shaped the chapter’s strategic direction and fueled its continuous success.
Her leadership has directed the development and growth of new and existing programs reinforcing industry collaboration significantly. These programs include The General Contractors Partnership Program, which has increased from 13 members to 26 members, and created more opportunities for subcontractors to build relationships and collaborate with GCs on upcoming projects.
The Scholarship Funding Program has gained greater visibility and support for emerging professionals in the construction field, awarding a total of $13,000 to 8 individuals this year by the Past President’s Council. These funds were allocated and generated through successful events such as the Fishing and Golf Tournaments, General Lunch Meetings, and 50% of the prior year’s net revenue over the budgeted amount. After the 2025 scholarships were awarded, the total net income over budget was $17,799.83 with 50% net over income going to the 2026 scholarship fund and 50% to ASA’s general fund.
Under her leadership, the chapter’s events continue to flourish, most notably the Golf Tournament, which sold out two entire golf courses and drew over 60 teams. This event had a budget of $77,000.00 and ended up raising an actual amount of $90,622.32
Under Tamara’s direction, 2025 was also an incredible year for awards and recognition with successful and sold out events such as The Excellence in Construction Awards, which year after year elevates the visibility of different outstanding construction projects, the new “Houston Chapter Member Awards” recognizing outstanding members in 8 different categories and the Celebration of the Houston Chapter 50th Anniversary.
Tamara has also prioritized education by launching new workshops and seminars through the Building Leaders Development and the She Build’s It Peer Groups, including soft skills seminars, technology education, legal and industry-related learning programs taught and guided by industry experts.
Through her vision, dedication, and ability to bring people together, Tamara has positioned the ASA Houston Chapter as a dynamic organization of professional development, with consistent membership growth rising from 148 members in 2023 to 174 in 2024 and reaching 180 members in 2025.
For these reasons and more, we believe Tamara truly deserving of the Executive Director of the Year award, as her leadership has not only elevated our chapter but has also set a standard of excellence across the association.
