ASA-HC has numerous committees that make a difference by helping us organize events and keep the organization on point. Committee participation is fun, rewarding and it provides valuable opportunities to work with peers who share the same goals and interests.

Excellence in Construction Awards

Responsible for planning the event, including entertainment, fundraising, promotion and nomination process.

Executive Committee (ASA-HC Officers only)

Consisting of the chapter’s elected officers (President, Vice President, Secretary/Treasurer) and the Immediate Past President, the Executive Committee (EXCOM) is responsible for the coordination and management of chapter affairs between meetings of the Board of Directors, as well as the yearly performance review of the Executive Director. The EXCOM’s actions shall at all times be consistent with the budget, programs and policies of the Association, and are subject to review and approval by the Board.

Financial Review

Responsible for reviewing, monitoring and, when needed, adjusting the Association’s financial procedures and policies. The committee meets in August.

Responsible for planning the annual event at the AIA Sandcastle Competition in Galveston, TX

Government Advocacy

Responsible for the legislative affairs of ASA-Houston Chapter. At least one representative attends Texas Construction Association board meetings on behalf of ASA-HC.

Networking (GC Partners Program and Schmooze & Mingles)

Responsible for finding ways for members to interact in order to gain knowledge and exchange ideas, and to find ways to improve visibility among other construction trade associations/members.

Nominating

Responsible for board/officers nomination slate. The current Association President serves as Chairman and is responsible for choosing the committee members.

Safety & Health

Responsible for exploring members’ safety needs and implementing a plan to meet those needs. The committee is also engaged in creating an OSHA Partnership agreement in which members can participate.
