September 18, 2025 (Oklahoma City, OK)
Lee Aitken, Holes Incorporated received the ASA National award for Chapter President of the Year (2024-25) at the SubExcel conference in Oklahoma City!
Since 2005, Lee has served on the ASA Houston board. He has been active in several committees including the Fishing Tournament, Golf Tournament, and Finance. In 2025 he was the honorary Chair of the Excellence in Construction Awards committee. It is important to note that Lee gives 110% to every volunteer position he holds.
In 2019, he began his path to Chapter President, going through the Executive Committee chairs. Through a very hands-on approach, he used that time to set goals he wanted the chapter to achieve when he became President – a two-year volunteer leadership commitment.
His goals included:
- Creating new ways to recognize volunteers
- Creating ways of engaging past presidents
- Increasing member participation locally and at the state and national levels
- Increasing membership retention
- Enhancing engagement with our GC Partners
During his presidency from 2023 to 2025, Lee Aitken demonstrated exceptional leadership, achieving significant milestones for ASA Houston:
- Launched an annual chapter awards program to recognize volunteers.
- Established a Past Presidents Council, which played a key role in initiatives like the ASA Scholarship program that raised $13,000 in its first year.
- Increased membership engagement, with 80% of members participating in at least two ways annually and double the participation at the state capitol event compared to the previous year.
- Achieved a membership retentionrate of 89% and a net growth of nearly 25%, expanding from 148 to 184 members during his tenure.
- Expanded the ASA Houston GC Partners Program from 16 participants in 2023 to 26 in 2025, adding new engagement opportunities such as roundtable discussions, speed networking, and more.
- More than doubled the chapter’s operating budget through membership growth, event growth, and strategic investments.
- Drove the chapter to record participation in ASA National events, including the highest registrations for the upcoming SubExcel conference among all chapters.
Lee’s visionary leadership and dedication have left a lasting impact, positioning ASA Houston as a model chapter in terms of growth, member engagement, and innovative programs.
