The ASA Building Leaders Development Peer Group held is first annual community service day on November 10, 2023 supporting 4B Disaster Response Network.
ABOUT THE CHARITY:
Following Hurricane Harvey in August 2017, local churches in the 4B area (from Beltway to the Beach and the Bay to Brazoria County) went to work serving the community with immediate relief efforts. As damage was assessed, they built a long-term plan to best serve the community on the long road to recovery. The 4B Disaster Response Network formed to answer the immediate needs relating to Hurricane Harvey and to prepare for future disasters that might affect our community.
Business partners, local agencies and community support play a vital role in our mission through the generosity of in-kind donations, monetary gifts and volunteer assistance.
HOW ASA HELPED:
ASA BLDG mobilized 26 volunteers to help with two projects in honor of Veterans Day:
- After the “big freeze”, a former nurse and Vietnam veteran had extensive damage to her home in League City. She lives with her disabled son who is on a ventilator. There are many on-going projects within the home that were addressed by the BLDG crew including demolition to prep various spaces for new electrical and drywall.
- The organization’s warehouse and living facility in League City also has many on-going projects aimed at preparations for temporarily accommodating families affected by the next disaster as well as homeless veterans in transition. BLDG helped with hanging drywall and running conduit.
